My Story

My path to Yoga…

I started my yoga journey in 2014 at the age of 13 and instantly fell in love with the practice. The feeling of “returning home” upon stepping on my mat is an indescribable one, yet something I hope that everyone gets to experience in this life.

I found yoga when I needed it most…struggling as a teenager with persistent anxiety, I found peace and tranquility on the mat. For the first time, I was able to step out of my head and truly be present in my body, with my breath…and I will never forget the incredible feeling of love, light, and positivity that enveloped me after I left my first yoga class.

That first class had me hooked forever. It wasn’t long before I knew that I would one day become a yoga teacher and in March of 2021 that dream finally became a reality. Upon completing my 200-RYT training with Hot Asana Yoga University, I immediately began expanding on my knowledge with modules including Myofascial Release, Yoga Nidra, and Yin Yoga.

As of January 2022, I also became a Certified Reiki Master Practitioner. Finding Reiki was truly the “returning home” point for me…everything started to make sense. All of my interests: yoga, crystals, chakras and energy, plants, animals, and even incense and essential oils come together to meet in this magical practice. Reiki healing works with the chakras (wheels of energy within the body) along with the subtle energetic bodies to offer a period of relaxation, balancing, and energetic realignment for the client. There truly is no better way to understand Reiki than to experience it yourself!

A modern approach

I have a very philosophical approach to yoga… Yoga is not just about the postures and movement, but is an entire philosophy and way of life. Commonly referred to as the Eight Limbs of Yoga, this includes the Yamas (personal restraints), Niyamas (social restraints), Asana (movement/postures), Pranayama (breathwork), Pratyahara (withdrawl from senses), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditative absorption), and Samadhi (union/pure bliss).

Living the “Yogi Life” isn’t just about what cool poses you can do, it’s about embracing all of the eight limbs. I fell in love with yoga because of the asana, but stayed hooked for everything else that it offers… expanding awareness, increasing love and generosity, and just bringing an overall sense of tranquility to my life.

Within a few Asana practices I knew what my dream was… to become a yoga teacher and help others find this incredibly healing practice. I had never before experienced a practice as calming and centering as yoga.

Nothing else quite fuels a dream like someone you look up to believing in you, and when my favorite yoga teacher told me that I needed to take a yoga teacher training I knew my dream would one day become reality.

After completing my RYT-200 training, I immediately began expanding my teaching knowledge including different Asana and Meditation practices, as well as becoming a Certified Reiki Master Practitioner. As my skillset began to grow I realized that I had grown myself, along with my dreams. I no longer wanted to just be a yoga teacher... I wanted to offer private, individual sessions to assist practitioners along their individual healing, spiritual, and/or physical journey,

And thus, Elevate Healing Arts was born!
